Dear St Michael’s church family,

I’m writing this on the eve of Palm Sunday.  You will find my reflection for Palm Sunday here  You may need to turn up the volume on the speakers on your computer or phone to hear me clearly!  I’m also attaching a printed copy to this email, and Robin will post this under Sermons on the website as usual.

Do have a look at the website and Facebook as we are updating both all of the time.

It’s great to know that things are developing in St Michael’s as we learn how to be church in this strange new world.  Ruby has set up a St Michael’s church Whatsapp group which is already flourishing.  If you would like to join, please let Ruby know.  You need to have a smartphone and internet connection for this, and you need to be aware that everyone in the group will be able to see your phone number.  The Choir have also set up a Whatsapp group, and other Pastoral groups are also developing and growing.  If you are not already part of a Pastoral Group and would like to be, please let me know.

You will find news, items for prayer and information about resources for worship on Sofa News.

One further prayer request to add-

Please pray for Mike and Lindsay Smith and family.  Mike was due to go into MK Hospital last week for urgent surgery.  He was twice called in and twice cancelled.  Please remember them at this anxious time.

Now, here is something to look forward to in the week after Easter -

I’m very excited that the Spring Harvest, the Christian Conference/holiday for all the family is going online this year from April 13 – 17.  Here is a link to the trailer for the conference with an invitation to subscribe for free.   I hope that this might be an inspiration to many of us this year.  Simon and I will certainly be following it.

Spring Harvest Home is a completely free online conference programme with content suitable for everyone in the family. There is some amazing material, all built around the 2020 theme of Unleashed - The Acts Church Today.  Never has there been a more appropriate time for us to gather together as a community to worship, learn, laugh and pray together.

Big Start (the morning all-age session), Bible teachinglive worshipspecialist seminars and workshops, and some light-hearted sofa viewing will be available right through the day.

Spring Harvest Home will be available through YouTube, so go to and search for 'Spring Harvest', or simply click here. Then subscribe to the Spring Harvest channel to make sure you don't miss this unique week. (Please note that more content will be added here from 13th April.)

Encourage your friends, family, neighbours and churches to also connect with Spring Harvest Home online, for what we believe will be a truly unique time of being Church together!

If you would like to share Spring Harvest Home with others then click here for some resources you can download. We will keep adding to these too.

To keep in touch with news and information about the event, follow Spring Harvest on FacebookTwitter, or Instagram!

A message from Ruth Cullinan, our Treasurer –

Greetings in these strange times!  Some of us Oldies are used to life feeling quite like perpetual weekends but this does still feel different. Someone has pressed the pause button. For those normally engaged in the world of work, I expect this is more difficult to adjust to. It is an anxious time though, for all of us.

Most Charities are becoming anxious about financial survival. Our Church also has Charity status, which means that we operate financially with about three months running costs in hand. We are fortunate that so many of our Church Members contribute financially by Bank Credit. The longer the Lockdown continues, then the more impact there will be on our finances.

I know that some of you may have grave personal concerns about managing financially because of your changed work situation. However those who normally donate cash or Gift Aid blue envelopes to our weekly collections, may be able or wish to continue to give.

Our Bank details are as follows:

Barclays Sort Code 20 5740   Account 30985279 if you do online Banking. If you prefer, Andrew Powell will be able to send you an email attached Bank Mandate for you to sign and submit to your Bank, for a regular donation that way.  Andrew’s email:

It already seems a long time since we have been together in Church. I hope we all remain in good health until we can meet and worship together again in St Michael’s.

With my prayers for you all for a blessed Sunday and Holy Week to follow,
