You are all invited to a Watoto Concert on Wednesday 10 April at St. Michael’s starting at 7.00 pm
But what is WATOTO?
For many years our Church teenagers have been supporting children in a Watoto Village in Uganda. All the children are orphans or have been deserted by their families.
These children are then looked after in a Watoto Village, where a foster mother has between 5 to 7 children in her care. They are provided with clothes, food, go to school, to Church, all in the Watoto village. The first little girl we supported has grown up and left the village for further education, we now support another little girl called Sanu from whom we receive regular letters.
In order to help the Charity, a children's choir comes to England, and although the concerts are free, they ask for donations, or even support one of the children as we do. One of their Choir’s came to our Church 3 years ago, they are amazing, the singing is so lively and songs are sung with such passion. I do hope you will come and join us.
Although it is free, we ask you to collect a ticket from myself or Angela Price, or collect from the back of St Michael’s Church , and just sign the list so I know who and how many are coming. This is just so we know numbers for catering as there will be refreshments at the end , and an opportunity for you to meet and talk to the children and the Auntie’s and Uncle’s [that is what the children call the adults who come with them.
I know 10 April seems a long way away but if you enjoy enthusiastic singing put the date in your diary now.
We are looking for families to host two children and an adult after the concert and provide a breakfast the following morning. You will not need to make an evening meal as we will provide a shared meal at church. If you can put up a group could you let either Valerie or Angela know and we will be very grateful indeed.
