Last Saturday morning (24th Jan) 5 of us met in the beautiful sunshine (how lucky we were!) for an hour to record all the birds we saw in the churchyard.
We had a good selection…gold crest, blue tit, wren, blackbird, redwing, starling, woodpigeon, crow, jackdaw, magpie, goldfinch. These have all been inputted into The RSPB’s website.
We also saw black headed gull, cormorant and red kite flying over and heard (either with ears or the Merlin app) robin, coal tit, greenfinch and song thrush. It is surprising how difficult is is sometimes to see a bird even when you know it is there!
Thank you to those who took part. This is a good start to our churchyard nature survey that will continue throughout the year.
